Senior Scientist — Formulations

Trucode Gene Repair, Inc. is a discovery-stage therapeutics company developing an oligonucleotide-based approach to in vivo gene editing to treat and cure patients with genetic diseases. We seek a highly skilled and motivated Senior Formulation Scientist, ready to function in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and be responsible for the development and characterization of peptide nucleic acid containing nanoparticles. The successful candidate will work within a larger team of chemists, engineers, formulation scientists and associates while mentoring and training junior members of the formulation team. The individual in this role will lead development and characterization of formulations for the delivery of peptide nucleic acid-based therapeutics on a broad set of approaches and technologies. Broad knowledge of nucleic acid formulations, drug delivery, sterile products manufacturing and general pharmaceutical product development is required. Experience with polymeric nanoparticle preparation techniques, biophysical/chemical characterization, and surface modification is preferred.


  • Design and develop formulations for delivery of peptide nucleic acid in cell-based assays and rodent models

  • Synthesize and characterize nanoparticle formulations

  • Interact well with other groups and communicate results to a broad audience

  • Mentor junior members and research associates

  • Maintain accountability for project success and results delivery

  • Contribute to scientific and strategy discussions to advance and enhance platforms and product candidates

  • Identify, manage and contribute to external formulation collaborations

Preferred Expertise:

  • Strong foundation in chemistry, materials science, pharmaceutical sciences or chemical engineering

  • Experienced in oligonucleotide therapeutics, deep understanding of particle-based delivery systems as well as characterization techniques

  • Awareness and understanding of adjacent areas such as nanotechnology and medical device for drug delivery

  • Experience with safety regulation and protocols is a plus

  • Experience with process engineering and cGMP production is preferred

Education and Experience:

Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutical sciences or related field plus 3 to 5 years of experience and proven track record of success in oligonucleotide formulation development, analytical evaluation and related technologies.
