Director Track — Pharmacology

Trucode Gene Repair is pioneering novel synthetic gene editing technologies to treat and cure patients with devastating monogeneic diseases. We seek a highly skilled, motivated, and creative scientist ready to excel in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Candidates should have exceptional pharmacology, cell and molecular biology training and experience. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and rewarding work environment where the abilities to effectively communicate and function in a team environment will be essential for success.


  • Direct and manage the activities of the Pharmacology group.

  • Design and perform proof-of-mechanism as well as proof-of-concept gene editing studies.

  • Design and manage preclinical in vivo pharmacology studies including efficacy, pharmacokinetic and biomarker studies, as well as early ADME and toxicology studies.

  • Execution of in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry analyses to analyze gene editing of lead candidates; ability to assist the team in the laboratory as necessary to train staff and advance projects.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills supporting rigorous analysis, interpretation and presentation of experimental data across the company.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure timeline adherence and project alignment to meet group and company goals.

  • Support external and internal projects via team meetings, presentations, and reports with an ability to represent the company to external scientific collaborators, granting agencies, investors and board members.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree, postdoctoral training and seven or more years of significant industrial experience. Leveling in the director track will be determined on abilities and accomplishments.

  • In vivo pharmacology experience.

  • Strong background in mammalian gene therapy, gene editing, DNA repair or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience with a broad range of cell and molecular biology techniques including mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays (both primary cells and cell lines), standard molecular cloning and genomics techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the field of hematopoiesis and hematological diseases.

  • Prior pharmaceutical development experience from concept-to-IND filing.

  • Experience manipulating primary human hematopoietic cells.

  • Experience with gene-editing and DNA/RNA/protein delivery.

  • Knowledge in DNA repair mechanisms and pathways.

  • Broad conceptual expertise with genomics technologies and hands-on expertise with assays such as microarray analyses, digital PCR and QPCR, and next-gen sequencing.
